All the following sessions are bitesize with a maximum of 1.5 hours duration. Certificate will be supplied after completion of Carers Programme for non-trained staff.

  • Hydration – Interactive quiz and brainstorming.
  • Constipation and Bowel Management – Demonstrations and discussion.
  • Urine Production, Urinalysis, & UTI’s – Demonstration, interactive quiz, and discussion.
  • Day-to-Day Catheter Management & Basic Prevention of CAUTI’s – Demonstration, discussion and group work.

Catheterisation Study Day

Following completion of the catheterisation study day practitioners will be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of:

  • Organisational, legal and professional issues related to catheterisation and catheter care
  • Consent, risk assessment and infection control in relation to catheterisation
  • Urinary tract anatomy and physiology and indications of catheterisation 
  • Product awareness and appropriate selection of catheter related equipment
  • ANTT and urinary catheterisation procedures
  • Urinary catheter management and trouble-shooting 

Catheter Problem-Solving

This course is aimed at trained staff and should be undertaken post completion of the Foundation and Carers Programme. All the following sessions are bitesize with a maximum of 1.5 hours duration.

  • Troubleshooting Difficult Re-catheterisation – Demonstration, group work and case histories/reflection.
  • Bypassing – Case histories and group work.
  • Blockages – Case histories and group work.
  • Haematuria – Case histories and group work.
  • CAUTIs – Case histories and group work.
  • Test Your Knowledge – Quiz to consolidate learning, leading to certificate of completion of training programme.
